Climatology

Climatological datasets have been prepared using the ACE-FTS satellite measurements. These are monthly and three-monthly mean zonal mean profiles on pressure surfaces. They can be used for a variety of studies including model initialization and validation and for providing a priori profiles for retrievals or analyses.

The ACE-FTS climatologies are provided for the version 2.2+updates and version 3.5 datasets. Different averaging and filtering methods were used to prepare these climatological datasets so the user is directed to the relevant papers for further details.

Version 3.5 Climatologies:

ACE-FTS version 3.5 was used to create a quality-controlled climatology for the following 21 species (14 of which are baseline species for ACE-FTS): C2H2, C2H6, CCl2F2, CCl3F, CH3OH, CH4, ClONO2, CO, H2CO, H2O, HCl, HCN, HCOOH, HF, HNO3, N2O, N2O5, NO, NO2, O3, and OCS. A climatology for temperature was also created.

The version 3.5 climatology is contained in netCDF files, and may be obtained here.

Version 2.2 Climatologies:

ACE-FTS version 2.2 (including updates for O3 and N2O5) was used to create a quality-controlled climatology for the following 14 baseline species: O3, H2O, CH4, N2O, CO, NO, NO2, N2O5, HNO3, HCl, ClONO2, CCl3F, CCl2F2, and HF. Validation of the baseline species was published in the ACE Validation Special Issue of ACP.

The version 2.2 climatology is provided in both ASCII and netCDF file formats, and may be obtained here.

version 2.2 - NOy

A combined NOy climatology was prepared from the version 2.2 NO, NO2, N2O5 (update), ClONO2, HNO3, and HNO4 (research product) results.

The version 2.2 - NOy climatology is provided in both ASCII and netCDF file formats, and may be obtained here.
